research
Demetris's primary research interests encompass macroeconomics, monetary policy, and critical topics in labor economics and finance. His research is largely centered on understanding business cycles, with a focus on identifying strategies to mitigate recessions and promote sustainable economic growth. A significant aspect of his work involves analyzing the impact of financial frictions on the broader economy and how these frictions influence the effectiveness of monetary policy.
In addition to his work on business cycles, Demetris investigates the interplay between unemployment and inflation during and after economic crises. His research seeks to develop policy recommendations that can reverse the adverse effects of economic downturns, particularly in relation to the labor market. He is especially interested in how financial constraints can exacerbate economic instability and limit the effectiveness of traditional policy tools, and he explores different approaches to address these challenges
